LANKAN GIRLS FORCED INTO PROSTITUTION IN SINGAPORE: ANOTHER SUSPECT ARRESTED

September 14, 2010: Another suspect, in the racket where Lankan girls were taken to Singapore on the pretext of employing them in beauty salons but were forced into prostitution, has been taken into custody.
Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested the suspect last night in Katunayake.
Two persons were arrested for the crime on an earlier occasion and were remanded.
The suspects had taken a girl to Singapore from the Seeduwa area claiming to employ her in a beauty salon for a salary of Rs. 150,000.
However, she had been forced into prostitution but had later managed to escape from their clutches and had logged a complaint with the CID.
