Major General Shavendra Silva to assume duties at the UN mission on the 15th

The Army Operations Director and Commanding Officer of the 58th Brigade during the war, Major General Shavendra Silva is to assume duties as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka at the country’s mission in the UN in New York on the 15th, sources from the External Affairs Ministry said.The External Affairs Ministry sources said the President has decided to recall the current Permanent Representative for Sri Lanka at the UN, Dr. Palith Kohona to the country in order to appoint him as the External Affairs Ministry Secretary and Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe is to be appointed to Kohona’s post in New York.
