INDIA'S INTERVENTION NEEDED FOR REHABILITATION, RECONSTRUCTION: RANIL: "INDIA'S INTERVENTION NEEDED FOR REHABILITATION, RECONSTRUCTION: RANIL
DATE_FORMAT_LC2 September 03, 2010: Ranil Wickremasinghe, leader of the United National Party (UNP) and the leader of the Opposition says that India's intervention is necessary for Sri Lanka's rehabilitation and reconstruction activities.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, while on a tour of India, Wickremasinghe said that Sri Lanka would not be able to carry out those activities successfully without India's help.
He also lauded India's aid package to rehabilitate and provide relief to Sri Lanka's internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Wickremasinghe went on to say that the political leaders of the north of the country were also needed for those activities.
In the meantime, India's Foreign Secretary, Nirupama Rao winded up a three-day visit to Sri Lanka yesterday that focussed on the rehabilitation of IDPs in the island."
