Re: Visa on Arrival Facility
With reference to the recent media reports regarding the suspension of the 'visa on
arrival' facility for all countries except Singapore and Maldives,' with effect from 30th September 2010, I wish to inform you of the following 'information obtained from the Controller General, Department of Immigration & Emigration, Colombo:

1. The decision was taken to suspend the issue of 'visa on arrival' with effect
from so" September 2010.

2. However, due to representations made by the Hotels, Tourism sector, the
implementation of this decision has been suspended until further notice.

3. It is believed ·that the withdrawal of the 'visa on arrival' facility will come
into effect by 1st January 2011, once necessary instructions and
arrangements are put in place.·
I would appreciate if you could inform all interested persons of the above.
