"Ravi Karunanayake challenges Sajith Premadasa to state openly
Whether he supports or opposes the constitutional amendments

2010-09-06

UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake has challenged fellow parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa to openly tell the people if he was for or against the President’s 18th Amendment. He made this statement at a public meeting at the Middeniya residence of Southern Provincial Councilor Somapala Ekanayake.

A large number of party seniors and clergy in the Hambantota District had attended the meeting.

Karunanayake said that Premadasa after boycotting the party’s Working Committee meeting on the 1st that met to decide on the

proposed constitutional amendments was now speaking of unimportant issues after casting aside the main issue faced by the people of the country at the moment. He said that some of Premadasa’s supporters have extended their support to the government’s constitutional amendments.

He also said that Premadasa who shots coarse about democracy was carrying out a dictatorial rule in the Hambantota District. He added that Premadasa, who is the UNP Hambantota District leader, has failed to hold a district convention of the party for the past five years and summon the UNP electoral committee in Tissamaharama as well.

Karunanayake told the gathering that he attended the meeting on an invitation of several UNP seniors and that it was time to stop the cold war within the party for positions and work to build the people’s power.

Karunanayake also made an open challenge to Premadasa to come for a live television debate in a democratic manner if he did not wish to personal speak to him and resolve issues."

  1. Indeed, I asked this question from Mr.Sajith Premadasa (in his FB wall)

Ashokbharan Nalliah KumaraguruparanSajith Premadasa: What is your stance on the 18th Amendment, there seems to be more controversial rumours flying around.... I hope you are totally against this dangerous 18th amendment.
    on Sunday

and he tagged me in a 'news video' where he answers to the same question. http://www.facebook.com/walltowall.php?id=669810231&banter_id=100000623517580&ref=nf#!/video/video.php?v=148547408509375&comments&ref=notif&notif_t=video_comment_tagged

  2. Thanks, for the comment.
Sajith Premadasa does not give or never gives a straight answer. He is on a constant campaign for his party leadership position and not to oppose the government in any manner.
It is very apparant in his daily videos of pocket meetings.
Ranil should have an election for the leadership and put the question of leadership to rest once and for all.
