Gota refused BBC’s request for an interview with KP
2010-09-10
The BBC Sinhala service has requested an interview with Tambiah Selvarajah Pathmanathan alias KP some few weeks ago. Subsequently they sent a list of 23 questions to KP through their sources. However they were informed that KP cannot give a direct interview to the media without the approval of the Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksha. When they forwarded the same questions to him for his permission the angry Defence Secretary threw them in his bin stating that, "I will never give permission to this pariya anti-government radio".
Meanwhile, sources in the Ministry of Defence disclosed to the Sri Lanka Guardian, that, KP and a Tamil journalist reported on the death of Velupillei Prabhakaran. In that interview KP said that the LTTE leader, Castro, would not provide the money needed for KP's rescued mission of his heroic leader.
"This story was created by KP and his godfathers because they blame the President's regime for using the LTTE’s property including its gold", he said.- Sri Lanka Guardian
