Upeksha forced to vote for 18th Amendment after husband received Rs. 50 million from Sajin

UNP parliamentarian Upeksha Swarnamali also known as Pabha was forced to vote in favor of the 18th Amendment due to pressure from her husband, a female UNP parliamentarian told Lanka News Web. Upeksha had been continuously attacked by her husband forcing her to support the 18th Amendment through out last week.
She had participated in the UNP protest wearing a black sari held at the parliamentary complex on the 7th with bruises in her body received due to blows by her husband. Her husband had called her over the telephone on the 7th and
threatened to divorce her if she did not join the government.
Upeksha had immediately left parliament and met with the President at Temple Trees with her husband and Sajin Vass Gunawardena.
Governemnt sources said Sajin had agreed to pay Rs. 50 million to Upeksha’s husband for getting her to join the government.
